Students prove their understanding by emphasizing the key word of a sentence as they read. The key word determines the main idea of
the sentence. They appreciate having valid critical thinking techniques that enable them to choose a key word and to justify their
choice. Readers use the key word to compose a title that expresses the main idea of a sentence. The key words and titles form the
basis for outlining. The ability to organize thought is one of the identifying marks of an educated person.

Enjoyment in Math
The children's experience with mathematics begins at an early age. Number concepts and work problems are emphasized. The enjoyment
of mathematics continues for the child with the development of mental arithmetic combining together the number operations while
achieving the computation of the problem as well as understanding the application of the process. Place value, measurements,
estimations and statistics and probability are an integral part of the curriculum. Fractions, decimals, geometry and pre-algebra
play an important role. Practices for standardized testing will allow the child to feel more comfortable when taking actual tests.
Algebra has an emphasis on writing, solving and graphing linear and quadratic equations.
